Professor Weiling Sun is the deputy director of Laboratory of Environmental Engineering, Peking University. Her major research focuses on environmental occurrence, behavior, fate, and ecological risks of emerging contaminants (ECs) in water and sediment systems, and the development of techniques that remove ECs. Particular attentions were paid on revealing the complex mechanisms governing the interactions between ECs and aquatic particles and exploring the possible toxic mechanisms of various ECs to aquatic organisms.
She has published over 100 peer reviewed journal papers, including 1 “hot paper” (top 0.1%) in 2018, and 2 “highly cited papers” (top 1%) (Essential Science Indicators). For her research she received the Second Prize of National Technological Invention Award, State Council of the People’s Republic of China and the First Prize of Science & Technology Progress Award, Ministry of Education. Weiling is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. She serves as an Associate Editor of International Soil and Water Conservation Research.
